Grey

Today’s the day
What do you want to see?
Your white shoes
Turned to ash grey
Leaving footprints washed away

Today’s the day
What have you seen?
Your memories
Turned to ash grey
Leaving oblivion in place to stay

The chimney stacks smoking
With warmth inside
And hearts dying outside
With what they were hoping

The belly laughs deafening
With bloating inside
And hunger living outside
From children going into parent’s oblivion

Today’s the day
Where do you go from now?
With an empty soul
Turned to ash grey
With the your blanket frayed

And hearts gone innocent
And lord’s prayers fallen into scents
From gas leaking from soul’s forgotten rent
Making flames in an ugly light
Offering no comfort the fight
Of painless pain
